Common Questions and More Information

  • The Wilderness First Aid course is an entry level course on common injuries and illness that backcountry travelers encounter.

Taught over 2 days, it prepares outdoor enthusiasts to take care of themselves and each other when separated from definitive medical care.

  • If you recreate in the outdoors or in other austere environments where access to medical care is delayed or communication is unreliable, acquiring your WFA certification is extremely recommended.

Whether you are a professional guide, trip leader, search and rescue team member, or international traveler, this course is for you.

    The WFA is ideal for:

    • Outdoor educators responsible for group safety in remote settings

    • Expedition members traveling to areas with limited medical access

    • Backcountry travelers who want basic emergency response skills

  • This course is being hosted collaboratively between Mapping Croatia and World Travel Project. The curriculum, content, and certification comes from NOLS, an American company that is the largest provider of Wilderness Medicine Education in the world.

The WFA curriculum is certified by the Wilderness Medicine Educational Collective and meets the standards for certification.

  • Yes! We are also offering a 5-day Hybrid Wilderness First Responder course. You can find information about that here.
