Join this Friends of Bob (FOB) adventure to the island of Crete, home to Europe’s first advanced civilization, the Minoans, and populated by outstanding canyon and coastal hiking.
With consideration of the rich cultural history of Crete, we have included a cultural section for those that are able to arrive a bit early and spend a few days immersing themselves in thousands of years of civilization.
Section 1, Culture - September 16-20, 2027 - Anticipated cost $1600
We will spend 4 nights in Heraklion, seeing the city, visiting sites and learning about the ancient civilizations of Crete.
Section 2, Adventure - September 20-28, 2027 - Anticipated cost $5350
With a plethora of hiking options to choose from, we will focus on central and western Crete. Most days will have a hike that lasts 3-6 hours wandering in the mountains, along the coast, or down one of the gorges that Crete is famous for.
There will be a rest day built into the middle of the trip and hikes are planned in a manner to vary energy expenditure.
All hiking will cary day packs only, limiting the weight on your shoulders to 10-15 lbs.
In addition to hiking, we will visit a few culturally significant areas, swim in the sea, eat incredible food, and partake in local wines.
Section Selection
We ask that you tell us which sections you anticipate doing. This can be modified up to 30 days prior to the start, but letting us know ahead of time helps a lot with the planning.
$350 deposit is due at the time of registration regardless of which sections you are choosing
**Pricing is tentative and subject to change until finalized during the Spring of 2027. Pricing is very unlikely to adjust by more than 5%. The remaining balance will be due July 20, 2027
Cancellation Terms*:
Prior to July 20 - Refund of all funds paid minus $150 cancellation fee
July 21 - August 20 - Refund of all funds paid minus the deposit
August 21 onwards - Refunds will be considered on a case by case basis*
*As the trip start date gets closer reservations become harder to cancel without penalties and open spots on the trip become harder to fill. Cancellation penalties reflect these unfortunate realities.
